BY THE SWEAT OF OUR BROWS
Saturday, September 12, 2026 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
In honor of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, this living history event centers on the experience of enslaved people of African descent during the war. The story of liberty in the Brattonsville community took root in many ways during this period, and it's legacy is still evident in current generations of descendants. Activities will include special presentations, site tours, living history demonstrations and opportunities to meet descendants of the Bratton family and those enslaved on the Bratton Planation. Families are encouraged to attend.
Concessions will be available for purchase.
Brattonsville Road will be closed from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Please follow the detour. Parking will be in the Visitor Center parking lot.
Ticket sales end on September 10. All sales are final, tickets are non-refundable. Ticket sales for missed visits will be considered a donation to the Culture & Heritage Museums. Walkup tickets are available. We encourage you to register online.
Member Ticket Purchases: The number of member tickets you can reserve is determined by your membership level, ticket type, and the named members you included on your membership form when you purchased or renewed your membership. Please note, admission will be charged for non-members who turn in a reserved member ticket. If you need to edit the members included on your member record contact Membership Coordinator, Windy Cole at 803.879-3855 or wcole@chmuseums.org
